The finish line for “old man winter” is finally in sight. Once the 1st of March hits, I feel like we made it through another brutal three months of cold temps and snow. As temps start to rise, people start thinking about spring and summer parties, cook outs, holidays, and get-togethers. If you’re looking for someone to cater your next event, whether be inside or outside, you need to check out Piper’s Pit BBQ in Center Township.

Ben Piper is the owner and operator of Piper’s Pit, and has over 25 years of experience in hotels, restaurants, and catering. I know I can attest firsthand to Ben’s work, and so can our own Andrew Selby. We both raved about the food he supplied for our respective parties.

Ben’s Culinary Vision

Ben Piper said, “My culinary vision is not pretentious, just real flavorful food cooked from my heart for real people who enjoy good food and a good time. At one of our events you won’t find servers wearing white gloves, but instead friendly people serving great food at your designated location.

I enjoy creating custom menus to suit your palate and occasion. Whether it be racks of ribs with my award winning sauce, beer butt chicken, so moist and flavorful, fire grilled pizza stations with your favorite toppings, or a wedding featuring pasta dishes to order and carved beef tenderloin; I am the one to call. You will savor the flavor as all dishes are prepared with my personal attention and passion to please.”

Award Winning Sauces!

Did you catch the part about his own award-winning sauces? That’s right. Piper makes two sauces that can be purchased online on his website or at the Beaver County Fruit Market. He makes a hickory apple butter BBQ that is perfect for ribs, chicken, or pork, and a buffalo ranch that goes well on anything really, especially chicken.

So Many Meats!

So, what kind of meats does Piper’s Pit cook? We’re talking about pulled pork; whole roasted pigs stuffed with roasted chicken, kielbasa, apples and roasted garlic and served with their blue ribbon winning hickory apple butter BBQ sauce; baby back ribs; beef brisket that’s been dry-rubbed and smoked for 16 hours; beer butt chicken, which is a whole chicken seasoned with dry rub and cooked upright on a can of beer; cajun turkey; BBQ chicken; grilled kielbasa or hot sausage. I’m sold on all of that!

And The Sides!

Ben doesn’t stop there. He also has a variety of hot and cold sides to choose from: rice pilaf, grilled veggies, pit chips, mac and cheese, cheese hash brown casserole, roasted red potatoes, baked beans, season veggies, bacon cheddar ranch mashed potatoes (what?!). Yes, yes, yes! And there’s still more on the menu in the form of cold sides: pasta salad, ranch tortellini salad (Andy’s favorite), tossed salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, potato salad, and fruit salad.

Piper’s Pit procures their meats from Mamula’s in Center Township, uses Mancini’s Bakery for their bread needs, and also sources products from the Beaver County Fruit Market.

Piper’s Pit offers several different options that you can choose from to mix and match meats and sides. Ben will work with you to customize your menu so that people leave your next party satisfied, full, and wanting more.
