It is no secret that the team members at Your Beaver County are huge animal lovers. We reference our furry kids in our articles, in our bios, and in daily conversations with our readers. It was only a matter of time until one of us thought to make it official and now, we are very excited to announce that the newest feature on the site is going to be the Pet of the Week!!!!
Once a week, we will feature one of our reader’s pets, right here under the Pet of the Week section. Since you guys know (or are getting to know) all of the writers, we thought it would be cool to if you guys got to know our pets, too! So to start off, the Pet(s) of the Week are those belonging to the staff here at Your Beaver County!

Originally hailing from Findlay, Ohio, Benmont (front) was named after Benmont Tench from Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. He was originally a pretty happy guy, but began to take on a different demeanor when Dexter (back) joined the family.
Being named after one of the most popular serial killers in TV history, it should be no surprise to anyone that this Dexter has a flare for the dramatic. He enjoys breaking the rules and sneaking into the cabinet where he knows his treats are kept.
Mentoring Dexter in the ways of being a dog has been a tremendously demanding task for Benmont, but he believes that he is making a difference in the world by helping his brother learn how to behave.
Both boys enjoy going for walks in downtown Monaca, barking their heads off at the mailman, jumping on their mom, and making sure every last drop of peanut butter is properly removed from their assortment of KONG toys.

Derby is a 2-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle mix, also known as a Cavapoo. Although he might be small, his enormous fluffiness matches his enormous personality. Besides chewing up socks and any toy with stuffing, he loves sticking his entire face in the snow, going for car rides, and hanging out with his BFF’s Jake and Caesar.
Jake is a 5-year-old White Golden Retriever, who is constantly babysitting his little brother, Derby. Jake loves long walks, swimming at the dog pool, and eating carrots. He is a big fan of belly rubs and the Central Valley Warriors!
And last but not least, meet my fur-baby #3, Hattie! She is named after that part in one of my favorite songs, What Does the Fox Say, where they say “hattie hattie hattie ho”…yes, seriously. When she isn’t winning all the blue ribbons at horse shows, Hattie likes eating peppermints, keeping a close eye on the other farm animals (specifically the lambs), and hanging out in the pasture with her friends.

Black John Wayne (named after a friend who was killed in a car accident) is a 4 1/2 year old Boston Terrier with a huge personality, and tons of love to give. He enjoys napping, the outdoors, and his all time favorite… stealing his little sister’s human food when she’s not looking. He’s a big city dog – comfortably living in good old Beaver County.

Since I have the blood of ancient Rome running through my veins, I felt it appropriate to name my first dog after my favorite person in history, Gaius Julius Caesar.
Caesar is a 3 year-old Boston terrier who enjoys sunbathing, the outdoors, playing with his cousins, Jake and Derby, and most of all, chasing his ball around. He is full of energy but also full of love.
Brian
Self-declared king of the house, Perseus originally hails from the Beaver County Humane Society and is around 8 years old. We call Perseus the “Sheldon Cooper” of our house, because he chooses something as his seat and will lose his mind if anyone is sitting in it.
His current seat choice is pictured here, and it is my 6-foot diameter Lovesac. While Perseus doesn’t think it’s too big for him, it’s just the right size for his huge personality.

I love the new pets section for animals of the week. This past month the Humane Society of Beaver County has been hit really hard with incoming animals. Is there any way you could advertise, spot light their needs, or get local businesses/people to donate. They have so many animals, they are in urgent need of funds and supplies. Please help the animals.
Thank you,
Barb White
