I remember the Roller Drome in New Brighton, Morelli’s Pizza, the YMCA camp, Benson’s Dept. Store, the Rialto & Grenada theaters, Murphy’s 5 & 10, Bonnage’s, Isaly’s chipped Ham (my sister worked there). Graduated Beaver Falls H.S. in 1961.

Does anyone remember the Fast & Friendly Convenient Stores? My dad owned them. There was one downtown BF, West Mayfield, Rochester, Monaca, Aliquippa, New Castle, & Calcutta Ohio.

What year did you graduate from MHS, John? My wife and I both are Class of ’62.
Me and my buddies also used to go down to Webers nightly to look at the comic books and buy
Mad Magazine (25 cents-cheap). Mr. Weber was a great guy and he also got me and my buddies into coin collecting too. I still have the “Bugs Bunny” Franklin half dollar I bought from him. After leaving Webers we would stroll up to the Benders Drug Store soda fountain to get a cherry-Coke.
Seems like yesterday…we grew up in the best time in America.

Rowse’s Drug Store and Rote’s Market on Adams Street in Rochester. Could pick up your prescriptions, buy penny candy and get some Isaly’s chipped ham! It was such a great era for small businesses.

boy when you read all these posts life was so much simpler back then. I remember how excited we were when McDonalds had its opening in Baden and dad took us up for fries and a burger.
