After all the excitement of Christmas, New Year\u2019s Eve seems to sneak up me every year. I think it\u2019s safe to assume that just about every bar in the area will have some combination of drink specials, entertainment, and merrymaking for those ready to party \u2018til the ball drops. Luckily, we have plenty of watering holes to choose from if that\u2019s your thing.<\/p>\n
We also have some great places for laid back or family friendly New Year\u2019s Eve celebrations.<\/p>\n
This German celebration in historic Harmony is great for kids who may get sleepy long before midnight. Fireworks are set off at 6 pm, which is midnight in Germany, to welcome the new year.<\/p>\n
The event also features a 5K run\/walk, a Germany comedy film, pork and sauerkraut dinner, music and Harmony Museum tours.<\/p>\n
This year, a Christmas tree throwing contest has been added to the festivities. If I did not already have plans, that alone would persuade me to attend! (Seriously, can someone let me know if it\u2019s as cool as it sounds?) <\/em><\/p>\n The Silvester Celebration runs from 2-6:30 pm.<\/p>\n With rows upon rows of pinball and arcade games, the Coin Operated Gaming Hall of Fame in Hopewell is always a good time.<\/p>\n Ana and Teenager Beaverhausen had a blast when they visited<\/a> and I\u2019m sure New Year\u2019s would be no different. With a family friendly atmosphere and optional BYOB, it\u2019s a great choice for just about any age.<\/p>\n Entry is $25 per person or $45 for a family of four and includes food and unlimited gaming. The party runs from 4 pm to 2 am.<\/p>\n If you grew up in Beaver County, chances are you have spent a night or two perfecting your form at the lanes. Or, in my case, trying to throw anything other than a gutter ball.<\/p>\n Sheffield Lanes is a great spot for a family or a group of friends to ring in the new year. Rent a lane for $125 and bowl from 10 pm to 2 am with a complimentary toast and snacks provided at midnight. Save room for some Ricky Dee\u2019s pizza, too. (Hint: the buffalo chicken pizza is amazing!)<\/em><\/p>\n If ending the year with an awesome meal sounds like your style, head to Pacentro\u2019s in Hopewell<\/a> for a special New Year\u2019s Eve dining experience. Executive Chef Dave Sparkman<\/a> has created a five course menu that is sure to please.<\/p>\n The crab stuffed tomato appetizer sounds delicious and entr\u00e9es options include filet mignon with lobster tail, veal chops, stuffed flounder and chicken bruschetta. The meal includes soup, salad, appetizer, entr\u00e9e, dessert and a cocktail.<\/p>\n The five course meal is $85 per couple and seating starts at 7 pm. Reservations are appreciated but walk-ins are also welcome.<\/p>\n If all else fails and you really don\u2019t feel like leaving the house, it can still be a great night.
